 La Paz, the pearl of México, is the capital of the State of Baja California Sur. It is a land of beautiful contrasts between the desert, sky and sea, ideal for spending enjoyable vacations where you will discover why it is appropriately named La Paz. "The Peace".
La Paz offers a unique landscape: an intense blue sky over the mountains covered by bushes, cacti, and flowers and a sea with crystal waters that vary from clear green in the shallow areas to deep blue depths, moving through every shade of turquoise.
La Paz offers all types and prices of lodging: from large tourist hotels, where the international level of luxury and comfort satisfy even the most demanding guest, to the moderately priced hostels for backpackers, including a variety of sites to camp under the stars and trailer parks for the wandering traveler.

Sportfishing: The Sea of Cortez is blessed with an extraordinary abundance of marine life. Because of the abundance of many coveted species like the striped, blue, and black marlin, the dorado, the roosterfish and yellowtail, this area has become an international paradise for the sportfishing industry.
Scuba Diving / Espiritu Santo Island: La Paz has earned international fame as a premiere scuba diving and snorkeling destination. The bay is made up of incredible diving sites including Isla Espiritu Santo, considered the most beautiful island in the Sea of Cortez.
Camping and Hiking: Nature lovers will find opportunities for hiking, mountain biking and camping all around La Paz. Just about all of the beaches in the area are excellent spots for camping. Those near the city offer more service, but the less accessible sites offer a chance to enjoy a more unspoiled landscape.
Ocean Kayaking, Windsurf & Kitesurf: Kayaking is one of the best ways to enjoy the natural coastline of our unique Sea of Cortez. It is not necessary to be an expert kayaker because the waters that surround La Paz are very calm. There are special sites for swimming and snorkeling that can only be accessed by kayak.
Ecology and Sea of Cortez: The Sea of Cortez is considered one of the richest in flora and fauna. This aquatic arm was created millions of years ago with the collision and friction of the Pacific and North American tectonic plate movements.
Marinas and Cruises: In the last 20 years, the Sea of Cortez has become an ideal site for cruise ship excursions. The experience provides opportunities to practice kayaking and scuba diving in remote areas, watch gray whales and visit several islands in comfort and luxury.
Beaches: The beaches in and around La Paz are extremely beautiful with gently sloping white sand. The best beaches for sunbathing are found along the highway to Pichilingue. Some of these beaches include services like “palapa” rentals (shade made from palm tree fronds), restaurants, bars, aquatic sport rentals and restrooms.
